Vacation 2011 {Part 5} - NYC(2)

We made our schedule for NYC to be not overly ambitious which is a good thing because even with our light schedule/plan it was still too much for non-NYCityiers to accomplish with 2 young children. Every "touristy" thing we did was great. The timing of our trip was great as we were leaving on Friday afternoon to go back to Philly and Hurricane Irene was coming on Sunday so the transportation systems and Broadway and most other things were all being shut down on Saturday.
Cora preferred to travel this way while in NYC....

A block from our hotel was Toys R Us and this is no regular Toys R Us......there is a ferris wheel inside with the seats in the form of many loved toys. You can not "choose" which car you ride in which has the potential to be a big deal for little kids but Cora was so excited about a ride, she did not care where she rode. Our seat had ET & Geoffrey the Giraffe on it. Kalli enjoyed the ride as well but by the end my arms were a bit tired from holding on so tightly to her so she wouldn't jump out of the seat.

Food was Denny's quality at Walker Brother's prices but the atmosphere was really fun. The waitstaff are all Broadway hopefuls so someone is always singing/performing while clearing tables or bringing out your food. A unique experience and the girls had a ball clapping and dancing to the music.

We booked a 90 minute midtown harbor boat cruise that would give us a good view of the Statue of Liberty as well as a lot of other NYC highlights. Cora LOVED riding on the boat and seeing all the sights. She stood at the front of the boat with Gram taking it all in and enjoying the bumps and waves. We learned a lot of historical information about NYC...things that Meghan didn't know about her city.

So long New York City. Thank you for treating us well and making our time there as a family great. We have to say that for as great of a trip as it was....we probably will not bring the kiddos back anytime soon but Peter & I can't wait to come back and enjoy more of the sights and fun. Until next time......good-bye.
