We went to the beach one morning while visiting Grandma. To set this up, the night before we had done pictures on the beach and Kallyn would cry every time we put her on the sand and Coralyn LOVED the sand. She buried things and found them and pretended to make food and everything. As we headed to the beach we expected we wouldn't stay long. We stayed about an hour and a half....a lot longer than expected. Both girls had a ball! Kalli enjoyed everything from the ocean waves to playing in the sand to eating the sand to throwing sand. Cora was reserved and preferred to stay a great distance away from the water and mainly digging and observing. How rich our lives are from these two little girls.....so similar at times yet very different!

Cora running away from the water.
Kalli heading to the water.
Cora pointing out the blimp plane in the sky.
" Seriously, why wouldn't I need 2 pairs of sunglasses on?"
After we got back to Grandma's from the beach we gave the girls a bath and then loaded the car for "naptime on the road." This technique worked great for this trip. We often had a 2-3 hour drive and just planned that and naptime to coincide. We stopped at the store for subs for lunch and when Peter got out of the car the guy next to him asked him if we had felt the earthquake....the what?? In our packing frenzy and long outdoor good-bye we had not noticed the earthquake whose epicenter was under 200 miles away. Peter was VERY disappointed that we were too distracted to feel it but I was okay with this....I knew there was a hurricane coming at some point in the trip. (Mainly heard about because Grandma's favorite channel of choice was the Weather Channel...so lots of coverage about Irene).
