Vacation 2011 {part 1}

We took off on a long road trip vacation at the end of August and since we did so much and saw so many people, I thought it best to break down the trip in segments.

So we left on vacation on a Friday night after a FUN birthday party for some sweet friends and Peter had a full day of work. Becca answered my plea for help and came over and watched the girls while we finished packing and loaded the van. By 8 PM the girls were in their PJ's and in the van ready for the adventure.

We drove through the night....that is right, all through the night and it was wonderful!! We only stopped 3 times to change drivers. Cora was up for about 1 hour in the middle of the night (from 2 - 3) but she just chattered on and on and finally fell back asleep until 8 AM (which is 7 AM CDT). We stopped for breakfast and then back on our way. We were at Great Grandpa's house by 10 AM.
We spent some time with Tia Mel & cousin Leia at a park that afternoon and that evening went to see GiGi (Peter's grandmother) for a couple hours.

We went to church with Mel and then back into the van for a drive to Delaware to see Great Grandma Boyle.
(This pic is fuzzy but it is of us driving over the bay bridge which looking at the gps makes it look like we are flying.)

We had a wonderful, sweet time with her. We went to the Crab-cake Factory for dinner and then to the beach for some pictures with a photographer. The girls did such a great job (and Dad too) that we promised them all ice cream so we went to Rita's Water Ice (Peter's fave place).

When we got back, Grandma read and read to Cora. It was so sweet! Some of the books are a bit wordy so I tend to skip and paraphrase but Grandma read every word with inflection and sincerity. Cora really loved it!

We had a wonderful time with Grandma and relaxing. We went swimming and to the ocean/beach for a morning. We would all agree that the time was too short! We love you Grandma!!
