How about why Cora only has one boot on? Well, that is because she had both on until...she found something in her boot.
What is it that she found? Of course, an easter egg (blown-out and dyed purple at Grandma's). As you can tell from the photo, the egg did not survive the meeting of her foot in the boot.
Why was her egg in there? Well, during Easter the girls carried around their fragile blow-out easter eggs and would wrap them in kleenex. This had disaster written all over it to me and sure enough Kallyn's egg broke. I asked Cora to bring me her egg for safe-keeping. Later on though she found it (I am well-known for not having good safe-keeping spots) and put in a "safe, warm & cozy" place that she then forgot where it was. We never found the egg until - this week's boot dress-up party. She was heartbroken when she saw what had happened.
But the true reason for this blog is little Kalli. She sat down next to Cora, gave her a hug and then started telling her it was okay. She shouldn't be sad and that her egg had broken too. It was the sweetest moment between the two. She kept saying - "i know, Cora, i know." and then stroking her arm and offering hugs.
At bedtime tonight we read this book
and when we got to kindness and gentleness, Cora, relayed the story of Kalli being kind and gentle to her when her egg broke. Again, a sweet moment.
So, thankful to the Lord for allowing me to raise these girls and the work He is doing in me through them.
