We love fireworks in our house. We get nervous at sirens, dishwashers, smoke alarms, thunder, airplanes, and helicopters BUT we love fireworks. This doesn't make logical sense but maybe it is the beauty of fireworks that makes the noise tolerable. Well, we have spent the summer at home because I was pregnant and then we had a newborn so no summer vacation but we wanted to do something fun with the girls before it was back to school so we headed to Navy Pier one evening.
Navy Pier does fireworks on Wednesdays and Saturdays so we picked a night that looked the best and headed down. We found parking in the garage (which the girls hated driving in because it was so closed in) and unpacked the stroller and headed to the elevator. One elevator was broken so it took about 15 minutes to get an empty enough elevator for our "troop" to make it on. We grabbed some (overpriced) McD's ice cream cones for the kids and went on a train ride. Then we watched the fireworks, rode the carousel, and then headed home - which the elevator was not fixed yet so waited about 30 minutes in line to catch that. The girls did great through the whole night and had a blast. It was a great adventure as a family with lots of fun memories.

Haha! Your description in the sentence about loving fireworks but none of the other made me laugh out loud. So very true! And I love the pics!
