We feel so blessed to have a community of friends and family that we are raising our little girls in right now. There are things within that we take for granted probably (like not needing to worry a lot about what people are watching on TV around them or adult language). Recently Peter and I both commented that at different times we knew Aunt Becca and Aunt Tricia were asking and telling Cora about Easter coming and the importance of this....Wow! While the responsibility to teach our faith to our children is definitely on our shoulders as their parents, we both felt so blessed and supported to know that there are adults in Cora and Kalli's lives that also desire to teach them and share their faith. It reminds me of the verse I learned from Entrusted a couple years ago.
Deut 6:7 "You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up."
The speaking of our faith is not about going to church but rather a faith that impacts every part of our lives and that we are modeling this to our children in the way we live (treat people, make decisions, attitudes, and behaviors) as well as speaking of it often. Their aunts took regular conversations with Cora and pointed her back to Jesus Christ. Thanks, Aunts!!!! I guess I close with we knew the positive impact it is to have adults who love and care for our daughters but we saw first-hand the additional blessing that these are godly adults.
