Cora learned about Martin Luther King, Jr at school last week and I wanted to talk about what she learned with her. Here is how our conversation went.
Mom: Cora, do you know who Martin Luther King, Jr is?
C: Mom, he had a dream.
Mom: Yes he did. What was his dream?
C: He had a dream that people wouldn't care about the outside.
Mom: What is the outside?
C: You know, their bodies.
Mom: You mean they wouldn't care about other people's outside.
C: Yes! You need to be friends with everyone no matter if they are different than you. I am friends with everyone and want to love everyone no matter what.
It was a simple message taught and so much more can be taught on it. So I look forward to adding to her knowledge of Martin Luther King, Jr as she gets older and understands more but I love to hear her heart and know that she is processes these eternal truths and trying to apply them.
